Due to the amazing range of candidates in our summer intern program, Largo expanded the award for our Summer Intern Scholarship Application. We would like to congratulate Mohammad T. Ali Adib for winning the first place, $10,000 award. Our carpenters apprentice Jennifer Knickerbocker was also awarded with a $5,000 scholarship. And finally, our interns Luke Martin and Brandon Montiel each received a scholarship award of $2,500. We were lucky to have so many outstanding interns this year. We are grateful to teach and learn alongside the future leaders of the construction industry!

As we expand our business presence in the Dallas, Texas area, Largo Concrete is proud to support local organizations that are dedicated to improving the conditions of their communities. Largo Concrete hosted a charity golf tournament earlier this week at Boudler Ridge Golf Club to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation raising over $80,000! The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for people with cystic fibrosis, a rare, genetic disease that progressively limits the ability to breathe, causing debilitating lung infections, and ultimately, premature death.

One of the many nonprofit organizations that Largo Concrete is proud to support is Habitat for Humanity, an organization that works to build homes and create stable communities across the world while bringing together countless volunteers.
Largo recognizes the importance of affordable housing and was one of many companies participating in the Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz in LA, a group of contractors and subcontractors coming together to build homes for families in need.
With many projects in the Los Angeles area, Largo has seen and contributed to community growth over the years and is grateful to be a part of a team aiming to provide homes to four local families in just 11 days.
Largo poured the structural concrete for this project and worked alongside top construction companies Clark Construction and the Turner Construction Company. This project has brought together enough donations of money, materials, and labor to provide each family with a three-bedroom, two-story home which includes environmentally friendly features.
All four families are first time homeowners and this project allowed them the opportunity to move out of a one-bedroom apartment and into a safer community. Each family stayed involved throughout the process, which resulted in not only giving them a home, but granted them with safety, independence, and a better future for their children.
On July 31, Largo Concrete and the Sage Hill High School IF Club hosted a Charity Golf Tournament at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast. The proceeds benefited the Irvine based Illumination Foundation and their mission to “break the cycle of homelessness” in Southern California. With the help of Platinum Sponsors Associated Readymix, Holliday Rock, Millennium Reinforcing and San-Mar Construction, the event raised $275,000 for the charity! The organization provides a myriad of services from housing and workforce training to medical and recuperative care to those in need. These funds will be allocated towards the Children’s Behavioral Health program which helps children thrive academically and emotionally with free meals, after school programs, counseling and more. The program addresses harm reduction and trauma informed care that help kids meet important developmental milestones to ensure they do not fall back into the cycle of homelessness. Since July 2008, the foundation has provided nearly 2,000 children with educational services.
