On the southeast corner of Via Marina and Panay Way in Marina Del Rey, Largo topped out on a 725,000gsf residential podium right along the water this week. With one level below grade and two above, the apartment complex will house 526 units above 1,171 parking stalls. Working with general contractor Johnstone Moyer, Inc. the development is scheduled to be open late 2018. TCA Architects and DCI Engineers designed the “L” shaped building along the northwest corner of Basin C in the World’s largest small craft marina.

The tallest building in Santa Clarita is open for business and it’s a Parking Structure! Standing 80′ tall at the top of the elevator core, the 7 level parking structure holds 564 cars across 193,953gsf. Of the 564 stalls, 47 are designated for clean air vehicles, 14 are accessible stalls and 17 are allocated for the future installation of electric vehicle charging stations. The structure features two elevators and two stair cases with bicycle storage for 29 bikes on the ground floor. Designed by Choate Parking Consultants, the facade features an all-glass elevator lobby and breathable Stamisol graphic membranes. Structural engineer Ficcadenti, Waggoner & Castle utilized a long-span, moment-frame design for the building. Construction Manager Turner Construction also renovated the adjacent building into medical offices which opened around the same time.

One block away from Snow Park and Lake Merritt, Largo topped out at the 1700 Webster high-rise project in Oakland, CA last week. The 23 level cast-in-place concrete building holds 206 residential units and 148 parking stalls all above grade. In addition to 8,200sf of retail space on the ground floor, the building features a plaza deck on level five with fitness center, lounge and a dog run. The roof deck includes another lounge area with a kitchen and a pool. Designed by architect Perkins & Will and engineer Tipping Structural Engineers, GC Suffolk Construction expects the building to open early 2019.

Largo topped out at the new Civic Center project in Long Beach, CA with GC Clark Construction this week . The new City Hall and Port Operations buildings are located on the northeast corner of W. Ocean Blvd. and Magnolia Avenue. Both concrete structures are 12 levels with 10 stories above grade and two levels of below grade parking. The podium level features as-cast architectural concrete finishes, and the oval shaped Council Chamber auditorium with seating for 256. Total gross square footage for the two buildings and below grade parking is 884,813gsf. On the eastern corner of the same block Largo retrofitted 2 levels of below grade parking on the old Lincoln Park site, and one level above for the new 2 story Public Library building.

Congratulations to the USC Michelson team for bringing home the Decorative Concrete Council (DCC) Award for Vertical Applications over 5,000sf! The award was presented at the annual DCC Award Ceremony at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas, NV.
Located on the southwest corner of W. St. James and N. San Pedro in downtown San Jose, the high-rise towers will be two of the city’s tallest buildings when complete. The development sits on the 1.91acre lot one block east of CA87 behind the statue of Thomas Fallon, an early California pioneer and the 10th Mayor of San Jose.
