Largo pour 1,000CY in two mini mat foundations at the Carte Hotel in San Diego today. Located downtown at 401 W. Ash this 17 level building features two levels below grade and 14 stories above totalling 174,470gsf. The building features 2 levels of underground parking holding 118 stalls, a conference room, event center, ballroom, gym, four-star restaurant and swimming pool between levels 1 thru 3. 240 total hotel rooms are spread out between levels 4 thru 14 with a rooftop observation deck with view of downtown and the harbor.

Largo placed 4,700CY of concrete at the Park 5th Development in downtown Los Angeles right across from Pershing Square over the weekend. The large foundation sits at the based of a 25 story residential high-rise building scheduled to open early 2019. Working with architect Ankrom Moisan, Nabih Youssef & Associates structural engineers and general contractor Suffolk Construction, Largo anticipates topping out in August of 2018.
One block west of the Miracle Mile in Los Angeles, Largo recently topped-out on a high-rise residential tower on the corner of Wilshire and Crescent Heights Blvd. Working with Matt Construction the high-rise building consists of 20 levels above grade and 3 levels below for a total of 393,137gsf. The building is designed by Steinberg Architects and Nabih Youssef Structural Engineers and features 150 apartment units, 7 levels of parking providing 411 stalls and a rooftop terrace complete with lounge, swimming pool, fire pit and a hot tub. Typical levels provide 10’6″ floor-to-floor heights while the level 17 penthouse and 18 skydeck are 14′ and 18′ respectively. The project also includes 6,000sf of retail space on the ground floor, a open space terrace at the back of the development and two levels of structural steel at the top housing MEP support facilities.

Largo is currently working on the seismic retrofit of a two level below grade precast concrete parking structure at the Paseo Colorado development in Pasadena. Located along South Los Robles Avenue between Historic Route 66 (Colorado Blvd.) and Green Street, the upgraded structure will provide support for the new commercial and hospitality space to be constructed above.
Largo’s team is busy drilling and epoxying dowels to expand footings and enlarge columns and using cast-in-place concrete to construct shear walls. With hundreds of corbels to be installed, a custom steel form was created so the team could efficiently pour these support structures. Foam inserts in the deck are being used to lighten the load along Green Street instead of a thickened slab where the structure connects to street level. Placing embeds for structural steel and forming and pouring a new vehicular ramp are also included in Largo’s scope. The work includes additional utility rooms, new pedestrian access stairs and elevators, and modified exhaust, lighting and fire protection systems. Working with general contractor CW Driver, Gonzalez Goodale Architects and Englekirk Structural Engineers, Largo’s scope is scheduled to be complete in early 2018.

Earlier this month, Largo topped-out at Circa, 1200 S. Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. The focal point of this $500 million residential mega-project is the twin high-rises adjacent to the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The development features two levels of below-grade parking, ground level commercial space, six levels of above-grade parking, an amenities podium deck, and 26 stories of residential condominiums above. Located near LA Live, the Convention Center and the Metro Pico Station in the city’s South Park district, the high-rise buildings feature a curved north face to enhance views of the skyline and mimic design themes from surrounding architecture. When complete, the project will total nearly 110,000 cubic yards of concrete installed over nearly 600,000 man-hours. Earlier this month, Largo topped out on the 9.5 level Britannia Cove at Oyster Point parking structure in South San Francisco. Located east of the 101 and north of Oyster Point Blvd., the structure features a total of 2,080 stalls spread across 721,250gsf. Designed by architect International Parking Design and structural engineer Culp & Tanner, this long-span, moment frame structure features a radius curve to match the Oyster Point Blvd. bridge over the 101. Working with general contractor Hathaway Dinwiddie, the structure will serve the new multi-tenant campus for life science and technology industries when complete in January 2018.

Largo completed a 5,000cy mat pour at the 953 N. Sycamore project in Los Angeles on June 17. Running three pumps, the foundation pour lasted over 12-hours with the first Cemex readymix truck arriving at 2:00 a.m. Designed by Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects and structural engineers at the BPA Group, the uppermost levels of the mid-rise commercial building are offset from the parking levels below, creating a twisting effect as the building moves up. The building is scheduled to be complete in March of 2018 and has a total of 11 levels, two of which are below grade, spread across 214,573gsf. This is the third project Largo has worked on with GC/Developer the CIM Group over the last couple years; the 925 La Brea project and 7007 Romaine are both located less than a block away. Later this summer, Largo begins work on the 904 La Brea project with the same owner, also a stone’s throw away from 953 N. Sycamore.

Largo topped out at the Homewood Suites in Austin, Texas last month. Working with general contractor DD&B Construction and designed by Phillips Partnership and DCI Engineers, the high-rise concrete frame building stands 17 stories on the eastern boundary of Austin’s Rainey Street District. With a total of 150 rooms across 200,369gsf, the first four levels will be designated for parking and are hidden by a metal facade which carries up the building’s core to the roof.
