Vesper

South of downtown Austin, in the booming Rainey Street Historic District, Largo topped out at the Vesper condominium tower on East Avenue in January 2023. With over 553,000 gross square feet, the building will hold 284 residential units, ten of which are reserved for affordable housing priced for families making 80 percent of the median family income. Amenities include a rooftop community clubhouse, a sky-deck pool, fireplace and lounge, fitness studio, a sky dog park with a lawn and dog-washing station, and a community courtyard. The rear lobby will feature a public art gallery and mural showcasing works by local artists, with direct pedestrian access to vibrant Rainey Street.

The tight site constraints meant special care was taken to limit exposure to falls. A perimeter protection screen system by Doka was employed to prevent anything from falling off the edge of the building. The EFCO plate girder forms allowed Largo to form the entire core accurately without having to reskin the forms. Largo partnered with Fabco Reinforcing to install over 4,040,000 pounds of rebar and 562,000 pounds of post tension cables. Coordinating deliveries and installation took a great deal of planning to keep the tight schedule, but in the end each deck was handed off on schedule. An EFCO climbing formwork system was used for the core all the way from the mat foundation to the rooftop.

In total, Largo poured 26,950CY over the course of 19 months working with general contractors AECOM Hunt and STG Design. The new 42 level high-rise happens to be next door to the Homewood Suites which Largo completed in June 2017 and down the street from the Natiivo condos.
